As most of you know or remember from grade school Valentines Day equals those little cards for all of your friends. Zada has to "turn" them in by Monday so all of us MOMS that volunteer can get them in their cute little bags they are making. Yesterday I made my way out to pick some up for Zada - I made an executive desicion to go alone and pick some for her as I didn't want to spend nine hours deciding which are the perfect ones. I also picked up some little heart suckers to put with the cards.
When I got home I told Zada what I had purchased. When I gave her the bag to see exactly what I bought her face lit up. The first thing out of her mouth was... "Mom! These are WONDERFUL, just WONDERFUL!" " The kids will just love these cards, MOM." Then it was "MOM, You are the best mom ever! If I had any other mom I wouldn't have gotten these cards." "THANK YOU!" This went on for another five or six minutes and of course I was patting myself on the back - "I finally did something right!"
It's the little things we do for our kids that mean so much! I had no idea how excited she would be to do this for her friends. Today we sat down and worked on picking the right cards for her friends and writing their names on them. For each kid she had me read the card and she had to really study the picture. Then she would explain to me why she picked that card for that child. Needless to say we still have half of the class to work on!
It's moments like these that cancel out a lot of the bad moments of parenting. The compassion I see (at times) from Zada is so rewarding as a parent... as a mom. I"m really proud of her for being so concerned about someones feelings.
"GREAT JOB ZADA!"

Back to School
We are back to school!!! Today is actually our second day
back to school my first day back as volunteer. You can tell
the kids have been off for two weeks.Although yesterday
I almost forgot to feed Zada before school. Somehow I got the
times mixed up and was thinking I could feed her AT 12:00pm
and still be at schoolby 12:15pm. OOPS! Don't worry she ate lunch.
Today we were a little back to normal. It's hard to get back
into the routine especially when snow pants are involved.
The walk to school well that's another thing. By the end of
first term I had her holding my hand the whole time walking
at a great pace. Today I felt like we were back in September
only less complaining!
My little thinker decided that she would be an "artist" on
the way to school. She picked up a stick (that would later
become a prize possession) that she was using as her paint
brush. You ask what's the big deal. Well my friends we
stopped at every single tree along the way to NAME them.
She was "painting" the names on every tree. I was giggling
on the inside on the outside I was reminding her that school
was only two hours and we might miss out. A few times I
paused because I do have my New Years Resolution to work on.
It seemed however, if I stopped the name of the tree was really long.
Once she spotted a friend all of the sudden it was "MOM HURRY
UP WE'RE GOING TO BE LATE.. WHY ARE YOU WALKING SO
SLOW?" Oh kids. They truely are a mirror of ourselves arn't they?
The precious "paint brush" tried to make it in school and trying to
explain why sticks are not appropriate in school seemed to be
such a chore. After much discussion it was finally decided that
sticks can be dangerous.
