Oh Christmas Tree Oh Christmas Tree....

No Pictures from our STL visit yet. Someday.

We decorated our Christmas Tree yesterday. There was more involved in just putting together our FAKE but lovely tree and tossing on some ornaments. We do everything the long way around. We moved our tv to the basement (where it will stay until the movers move or we die). Then we moved the couch and chairs around opening up the whole space. I LOVE IT. It looks so nice. So the tree.

Oh the tree. While James was assembling the tree, Zada looked at each and every ornament we have; asking what each one said, where each one came from
whose ornament was whose and where it came from. Sometimes we don't take the time too think about the ornaments we put on the tree. We get an ornament for Christmas send the thank you card and go on about our holiday. Not Zada. As annoyed as I was to have to explain each of the ornaments one by one I was also pleased that Zada took such interest in my memories.  And now we are all ready for Christmas.

There will be pictures......eventually!

Easter...

Easter morning was very funny. The funny bunny as we like to call him in our house, decided to leave some chocolate eggs in front of Zada's door. *Rewind* When I was putting her to bed the Easter-eve she was SURE that the bunny couldn't get up the stairs so he would only be able to hide the eggs on the main floor of the house. *fastfwd* So Easter morning I hear "oh my goodness" then I hear "this cannot be happening". She was totally stumped as to how that bunny got up the stairs. Apparently he hopped and had fluffy feet so we couldn't hear him. James and I made her wait until we were up sort of awake.

She was excited to search for the eggs and her basket. The bunny hid her basket and gave her clues. (The bunny's hiding spot and clues weren't all that great, I think s(he) had a couple too many pina colada's the night before). She spotted the basket before the clues were read! hahah It was kind of funny to watch her look for the chocolate eggs - there was no rush. I can remember my sister and I hunting for eggs and it was a mad dash and a little fighting to get the most eggs. Not in our little single-child family. NO RUSH. Infact there was still 1 plastic egg leftover on Monday.

Sunday afternoon we went to the Agricultural Museum to look at the the baby animals. They also had an Easter Egg hunt in the horse stables. All the kids got 3 chocolate eggs a piece. She couldn't wait to get her eggs and get out of there. (see picture below).

From there we headed to James' parents for dinner. Food, Dessert, candy. It was Tastey!! Zada and I took a little walk after dinner, she called it a hunt for the Easter Bunny, I called it wear-off-the-chocolate-and sugar-before-bed walk.

Zada was asked by her teacher today what kind of goodies she got for Easter - her response. "not a lot of chocolate and some highlighters." HHHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH She got a boat load of chocolate and 4 tiny highlighters! hahah

Day 2 of March Break

Life is going quite well considering I expected to have an extremely bored child on my hands. Yesterday was fantastic; she was so busy playing with all of her new toys she barely spoke to me! There were times I got tired of doing housework I was hoping she'd ask me to play but never did! lol Today has been pretty much a repeat of yesterday. Zada started to get a little jumpy and bored so we went for a walk. It was kind of rainy - nothing crazy so we brought our umbrellas. We had to check out a few playgrounds to see if they were wet. The conclusion is they are still a bit wet.

As we were walking and talking I was thinking to myself that this time of year is gross. I think it's probably the only ugly time in Ottawa. Everything is so wet and muddy and just gross. The weather was nice today - Zada set the breeze in her face was refreshing! lol

Zada did find a dry swing on our walk and she was explaining to me that 5 year olds know how to make their swings go therefore she didn't need my help. She was also telling me all the things that 5 year olds can do - and 4 year olds are just too young to do them! lol

Here we are in 2007!

It's the second day of the year! WOHOO! We rang in the New Year by watching the ball drop in
New York! Isn't that what everyone does? So does 2007 feel any different than 2006? Sorta. I
mean it will. Zada turns 5 this year! HOLY SMOKES and even more holy smocks is I turn 30.
Someone asked me at a New Years Eve party how I felt about that. Talk to me in August and I'll
let you know! heheh So other than gaining an extra year under our belts (along with a few pounds) I guess '07 seems to be alright.

I of course have ideas of things I'd like to accomplish in this year, I don't want to refer to them as
"resolutions" because then they won't get done!
My goals for 2007

  1.  Be more patient
  2. Run 5K without stopping (they same make your goals obtainable)
  3. be more positive
ok those are lame. I guess it's good I have SOME goals! hehehe

Enjoy your new year!

Happy New Year!

It's crept up on us once again... the new year. Can you believe it?
I can't. I cannot believe we are celebrating our second New Years
Eve in Ottawa! Amazing!! Can 2007 be better than 2006? I'm sure
it will be!!

I went for a little walk after breakfast today. With snow on the ground
and the temp just right it was blissful. Today is New Years Eve. It was
in the air. The people I passed all had smiles on their faces for whatever
reason, I personally think it was because it's New Years Eve. I think
people are generally happy to start a new year for whatever reason.
Something exciting about starting a new year, sure another year older
but it's the unknown! What will 2007 bring to us?

I for one am excited. Lots of new things to come this year, visits
back to St. Louis, Zada turns 5 (OH MY GOODNESS) AND I will probably
start working. My mom is now retired! My parents are moving! So many things to happen this year!

WE only hope that each of you has a great 2007! Enjoy a new adventure!

Lots of Love from Us!!!
